Jim Tildesley
Jim Tildesley holds an MA in Naval History from Portsmouth University. He enjoyed a successful career in teaching and museum management, finishing as Director of the Scottish Maritime Museum. Since taking early retirement, Jim has been researching eighteenth-century naval history with an emphasis on Scottish individuals. Jim’s previous publications include I am determined to live and die on board my Ship: The Life of Admiral John Inglis - An American in the Georgian Navy (Matador, 2019) and ‘Seamen, Safe Houses and Secret Service: A British Consul’s Recruiting for the Navy 1795-98’, in Sailors, Ships, and Sea Fights (Helion, 2024).
