This book was written to provide an in-depth study of the Danish and Norwegian armies of the Napoleonic Wars. The goal was to provide a working document which is as accurate as possible, covering the uniforms of these armies, their weapons and their evolution as well as their colours and a look at their basic tactics. Although this is principally a uniform book, historical background is also provided to place the details in their context. Most of the information contained in this volume is published in the English language for the first time.
This third volume looks in depth principally at the Norwegian Army including the regular infantry, cavalry, including their Colours, Guidons and Standards and field artillery covering all aspects of their organisation, uniforms, arms and equipment as well as their Jægers, light infantry and ski troops. The specifically Norwegian " These are lovely books full of illustrations and colour plates of uniforms. Wilson doesn't neglect his text, providing comprehensive information on organisation, arms, equipment, standards and colours." Wargames Illustrated, Issue 408, Dec 2021also included. This volume is illustrated with 62 original full colour plates.
Unlike the few other works in English this book has been conducted with the assistance of respected Norwegian historians, as well as Danish and German historians.
"These three attractive and reasonably priced books now provide wargamers with an excellent guide to the organisation, uniforms and equipment that will be the perfect reference for painting the 28mm figures recently produced by Perry Miniatures or the 25 mm and 15 mm figures by Miniature Figurines, or to convert smaller scale figures of other nationalities into Danes or Norwegians. David Wilson’s books are highly recommended to anyone contemplating raising a Danish wargame army and seem likely to remain the definitive reference for English speaking wargamers." "My long wait for this book has finally come to an end. ..[this volume] continues with the same high level of detail as in the earlier volumes....This is an excellent book and the entire three volume series has clearly been a labour of love." carryingsonupthedale.com
"I have already reviewed the previous two volumes of this admirable work and was therefore very happy to review the final volume which is particularly strong....The detail in the book is astounding and the 62 pages of colour plates of uniforms and standards are particularly good. An excellent series is completed, in the humble view of this reviewer, with the best volume being the last. Highly Recommended." The Napoleon Series
