Good near very good condition considering age. Original orange cloth binding with moderate rubbing, fading and general handling wear to boards and spine. Corners and spine ends bumped with some wear to cloth. Evidence of removed bookplate or label to rear pastedown and a few light marks internally. Page edges toned with age. A classic work of twentieth-century military theory by Major-General J. F. C. Fuller, one of the foremost architects of modern armoured warfare doctrine. In Machine Warfare, Fuller examines the impact of mechanisation on military operations, tracing the evolution of warfare from the Industrial Revolution through the First World War and into the age of tanks, aircraft and motorised armies.
The book is divided into sections covering the historical development of machine warfare, the theory of mechanised conflict, and its practical application. Fuller discusses strategic mobility, armoured penetration, indirect approaches, national resources and the future conduct of war. Many of the concepts explored here influenced military thinking during the Second World War and beyond.
An important and increasingly collectible work by one of Britain's most influential military theorists.
