Martin Gilbert’s documentary companion to Volume III of Winston S. Churchill, covering May 1915 to December 1916. This is Part 2 only, published by William Heinemann in London in 1972.

Arranged chronologically by month, the volume brings together documents relating to Churchill and the political and military circumstances of the First World War. The photographed text includes correspondence concerning Lord Fisher, the Admiralty and the change of government in May 1915, with explanatory footnotes identifying people mentioned in the documents.

The contents list monthly sections through December 1916, followed by maps and an index. As a documentary companion, it offers material for readers studying Churchill’s wartime career and the correspondence surrounding British political and naval decisions during this period.

An English-language hardback with its dust jacket. Offered as a single volume, rather than the complete two-part Companion Volume III.
