Second Hand Tannenberg

The First Thirty Days in East Prussia

Author : Major-General Sir Edmund Ironside, K.C.B

Tannenberg : The First Thirty Days in East Prussia

Condition

Book in very good condition overall. Blue cloth boards remain sound and presentable, with light bumping and rubbing to corners, spine ends and edges, and some marking and age-related wear to the cloth. Contents are generally clean and well preserved, with light to moderate foxing, most noticeably to the page edges and some end sections. Multiple fold-out maps and sketches are present at the rear. There are institutional ownership stamps to the front matter and some age-related marking internally, but the text block remains solid and the book is a sound, serviceable copy overall.

A detailed contemporary study of the opening phase of the First World War on the Eastern Front, written by Major-General Sir Edmund Ironside. Covering the first thirty days in East Prussia, the book examines the initial campaign, the forces engaged, the Russian plan, the German advance, the Battle of Tannenberg, and the Battle of the Masurian Lakes. With numerous fold-out maps and sketches, it remains an important early military analysis of one of the decisive opening campaigns of the war.
