Bound in original dark blue cloth with gilt titles and crest to spine and front board. Light rubbing to edges and a few minor surface marks; gilt remains bright. Binding firm, text clean and complete. Presentation label to front pastedown (“Presented by the London County Council in memory of the services rendered by Pte. E. Smith”). A well-preserved example of this scarce L.C.C. publication.

Published in 1922 by the London County Council, this substantial commemorative volume records the wartime service of L.C.C. employees across every branch of the council. It includes detailed summaries of each campaign from Mons and the Marne to the Armistice, and an extensive index listing all staff who served, were wounded, or lost their lives. This copy was presented by the Council in memory of Pte. E. Smith, with the original printed dedication label to the front pastedown. Bound in dark blue cloth with gilt crest and decoration. A remarkable record of London’s civic contribution to the Great War and a valuable genealogical resource.
