Condition
Acceptable overall vintage condition. The collection contains books, journals and pamphlets of different ages and conditions. Expect shelf wear, rubbed and creased covers, bumped corners, tanning, foxing, edge marks and occasional previous price or ownership markings. Several older Pelican paperbacks have heavily rubbed spines, worn edges and age-toned pages. Some hardback dust jackets have creases, tears, chips or other wear. The more recent society journals generally appear cleaner, with ordinary handling and storage wear. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description. No exhaustive check has been made for every annotation or inscription.

English Civil War, Stuart England and Early English History
A large specialist collection of books, journals and pamphlets covering medieval England, the Saxon and Norman kings, Stuart England, the English Civil Wars, the Commonwealth and Republic, seventeenth-century military history and regional Civil War studies.
Principal books include:
• The English Civil War — Robert Ashton
• The Saxon & Norman Kings — Christopher Brooke
• Change and Continuity in Seventeenth-Century England — Christopher Hill
• The Civil Wars of England — John Kenyon
• England Under the Stuarts — G. M. Trevelyan
• England in the Eighteenth Century — J. H. Plumb, Pelican History of England Volume 7
• England in the Seventeenth Century — Maurice Ashley, Pelican History of England Volume 6
• Anglo-Saxon England / The Early Middle Ages — F. M. Stenton, Pelican History of England Volume 3
• England in the Late Middle Ages — A. R. Myers, Pelican History of England Volume 4
• Authority and Conflict: England 1603–1658 — Derek Hirst
• The English Wars and Republic 1637–1660 — G. E. Seel
• Nottinghamshire in the Civil War — Ian Brown
• The Great Leaguer of Chester — Stephen Eckstock
• With Guns and Drums — Stephen E. Wright
• Additional English Civil War and regional-history booklets and publications as photographed
The collection also contains a substantial group of Arquebusier: The Journal of the Pike & Shot Society issues, including volumes from XXXVI, XXXVIII and XXXIX, together with Cromwelliana 2024 and other related military-history and society publications.
Arquebusier covers warfare in the early modern period, approximately 1400–1720, and contains articles, illustrations, military research and colour material relating to pike-and-shot warfare.
This would make an excellent research or reading collection for anyone interested in the English Civil War, the Stuart monarchy, Cromwell, seventeenth-century warfare, re-enactment, military history or English regional history.
Because several of the thinner journals and pamphlets overlap in the photographs, buyers should use the photographs as the definitive record of the contents. Every item shown as part of this bundle is included.
The books and publications are offered together as one complete bundle only. Individual items will not be sold separately.
