Condition
Acceptable / reading-copy condition, with significant external wear and age-related staining.
The cloth covers are rubbed, marked and unevenly faded, particularly on the spine and rear board. Corners and spine ends are bumped and frayed, with splits and loss to the cloth around the spine ends and joints. The rear inner hinge also shows splitting.
Pages have tanning, foxing and staining, especially noticeable on the endpapers, portrait frontispiece and title page. Page edges are browned and uneven.
A decorative ownership bookplate is attached inside the front cover, together with a bookseller’s sticker. Handwritten price/reference markings appear on the front endpaper, which also shows a rectangular discoloured outline.
The photographed text remains readable. Offered as a reading, research or restoration copy. Please examine all photographs carefully, particularly those showing the spine damage and staining.
