A scarce English edition of War Notes: The Diary of Colonel De Villebois-Mareuil, the personal account of one of the most famous foreign volunteers to fight on the Boer side during the Second Boer War.
Colonel Georges de Villebois-Mareuil was a distinguished French officer who resigned from the French Army to support the Boer Republics against Britain. His diary provides a fascinating first-hand account of military operations, travel through South Africa, observations on both Boer and British forces, and his experiences leading foreign volunteers before his death in action in 1900.
An important contemporary source for collectors of Boer War history and military memoirs.
