A detailed and authoritative history of the Royal Malta Artillery from its origins in the Maltese military formations raised during the Napoleonic era through to the eve of the Second World War. Written by Brigadier A. Samut-Tagliaferro, this substantial volume chronicles the development of the Royal Malta Artillery and its predecessor units, including the Maltese Light Infantry, Royal Malta Fencible Regiment, Royal Malta Fencible Artillery and Royal Malta Artillery.
Drawing extensively upon official records and regimental archives, the work examines campaigns in Egypt and the Sudan, the defence of Malta, colonial service, organisation, personnel and operational history. The volume is illustrated throughout with photographs, portraits, maps and military artwork and includes extensive appendices covering officers, honours, commanders, rolls of service and regimental records.
An important reference work for students of Maltese military history, British imperial military history and regimental studies.
