A classic contemporary account of the opening months of the Second Boer War by renowned British war correspondent G. W. Steevens. From Capetown to Ladysmith records Steevens' journey with the British Army from the Cape to the besieged town of Ladysmith, offering vivid eyewitness reporting of the campaign, the soldiers, the landscape and the realities of campaigning in South Africa.
Originally published in 1900, this Third Impression includes a map of the country around Ladysmith and a large folding map illustrating the seat of war in South Africa. Written shortly before Steevens' untimely death during the campaign, the work remains one of the best-known first-hand journalistic accounts of the Boer War.
An increasingly collectible Boer War title, ideal for military historians and collectors of contemporary campaign narratives.
