An important edited collection of the correspondence of Dr Peter Prattinton of Bewdley, antiquary and collector of Worcestershire history. Covering the years 1807–1840, this volume brings together 574 letters which offer a rich insight into the world of the early nineteenth-century antiquary and the historical study of Worcestershire.

Prattinton devoted much of his life to the study of his native county, building up a substantial collection of documents and historical material that has remained valuable to later researchers. His correspondence sheds light not only on antiquarian research and collecting, but also on personal relationships, local events in Bewdley and Worcestershire, and everyday life in the county during the early nineteenth century.

Edited by Isobel Robinson and published as Volume 29 in the Worcestershire Historical Society New Series, this substantial hardback is a valuable source work for readers interested in Worcestershire history, local antiquarian studies, manuscript collecting, nineteenth-century correspondence and the social history of the Midlands.
