A comprehensive German-language bibliography of Friedrich Wilhelm I of Prussia, covering publications issued between 1688 and 2005. Compiled by Gabriele Jochums, the volume records approximately 1,200 works concerning the king’s life, personality, family and reign, including sources relating to Brandenburg-Prussia, government, administration, military affairs, court life and the development of the “Soldier King” in historical and literary writing.

The bibliography is arranged by subject and includes sections devoted to correspondence, testaments, biographies, the crown-prince period, the reign from 1713 to 1740, personality and family, visual representations and literary treatments. Indexes of people, places and authors are provided, together with an appendix reproducing Gustav Wallat’s study of historians, memoirs and literature concerning Friedrich Wilhelm I. An important specialist reference for research into Prussian, German and eighteenth-century military and political history.
