John Wroughton’s illustrated account and battlefield guide to the Battle of Lansdown, fought near Bath on 5 July 1643 during the First English Civil War.

Drawing upon contemporary accounts and close examination of the surviving battlefield, Wroughton reconstructs the movements of the Royalist army under Sir Ralph Hopton and the Parliamentarian forces commanded by Sir William Waller. The book explains the course of the fighting, the weapons and tactics employed and the roles played by commanders including Sir Bevil Grenville.

Designed for both readers and battlefield visitors, the book includes maps, diagrams, portraits, archaeological evidence and guidance for exploring the landscape on foot. This copy is signed by John Wroughton.
