Condition
Very good in good dust jacket. The book is clean and firmly bound with bright pages and light age toning. The unclipped dust jacket is protected in a removable clear cover and shows light age-related discolouration, minor edge wear and some foxing to the rear panel. Looks to be signed by author Wilf Emberton & Brigadier Peter Young on front end paper. Overall, a very well-preserved first edition.

Wilf Emberton's detailed history of the siege of Basing House examines one of the longest and most celebrated sieges of the English Civil War. Covering the events of 1643–1645, the book explores the military operations, leading personalities and everyday life within the Royalist stronghold before its eventual capture by Oliver Cromwell. Drawing on contemporary documents and extensive local research, this first edition remains one of the principal works devoted to Basing House and is an important reference for collectors and students of the English Civil War.
