An illustrated account of the Marquis of Montrose’s remarkable Royalist campaign in Scotland during 1644–45. Stuart Reid examines the campaign’s origins, opposing commanders, armies and plans before tracing Montrose’s victories at Tippermuir, Aberdeen, Inverlochy, Auldearn and Kilsyth, followed by the Royalist defeat at Philiphaugh. Campaign maps, three-dimensional battlefield views and specially commissioned artwork by Gerry Embleton help explain the movements, tactics and experience of the opposing forces. Osprey Campaign series, volume 123.
