Simon Batten
Simon Batten studied Modern History at Jesus College, Oxford, and following a 38-year teaching career is now the Archivist at Bloxham School in Oxfordshire. Simon regularly leads battlefield tours and his primary research interest is the army of Louis XIV. His article on the Battle of Denain won the Pike & Shot Society's 2018 Bill Braham Essay Competition. He has also written extensively on the Great War; his book 'Futile Exercise' (2018) won the Arthur Goodzeit Book Prize from the New York Military Affairs Symposium.
