Sérgio Veludo Coelho
Sérgio Veludo Coelho, Adjunct Professor at Escola Superior de Educação do Politécnico do Porto (ESE/P.Porto), is a lecturer in the Heritage Management Course of this school and in the Master in Heritage, Arts and Cultural Tourism. He holds a degree in Historical Sciences from the Portucalense University Infante D. Henrique in Porto with the dissertation ‘The fortifications of the Siege of Porto: 1832-1833’ awarded with Honourable Mention of the Prize of Contemporary History Vítor de Sá 1995, of the University of Minho. His Masters degree in Modern History was at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto with the work entitled ‘Military Costumes of Regeneration, Appearance and Reality 1848-1892’. He subsequently studied as a post-graduate in Military History at the Lusíada University of Lisbon and obtained his Doctorate in History at the Portucalense University Infante D. Henrique, with the thesis ‘Royal Arsenals of Lisbon and Porto 1800-1814’, awarded the National Defence Award 2010 by the Portuguese Committee on Military History. He is Integrated Researcher of the Centre for Research and Innovation in Education at the Polytechnic School of Porto; researcher of the Nucleus of Studies of Art and Heritage of the School of Education of the Polytechnic of Porto; collaborating researcher at CITAR/Escola de Artes UCP; president of the Association of Friends of the District Archives of Porto; partner of the League of Friends of the Military Museum of Porto; founding member of the Portuguese Napoleonic Association; member of the Historical Recreation Group of the Municipality of Almeida. Author of several books and articles in the scientific areas of military history, industrial history and cultural heritage, including The War of the Two Brothers: The Portuguese Civil War, 1828-1834, published by Helion.
