Richard Willis
Richard Willis is a ‘citizen historian’ who stumbled upon the little-known Battle of Soissonais and the Ourcq whilst doing some family history research on Sergeant H.B. Bloor of 34th Battalion Machine Gun Corps, who enlisted underage at 16. An NCO at 18, Bloor was mortally wounded during the fighting. Richard has also co-written two journal articles. The first with Richard Fisher on a minor Machine Gun Corps action during the Battle of the Somme. The second with David Retherford on intelligence failings during the German Friedensturm offensive. He is also the recipient of a PhD in Strategy and Organisational Change from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne.
