Rada Varga
Rada Varga is a researcher at Cluj-Napoca University, with a PhD in Ancient History. She specialises in social history, material culture and the history of the 'common people' (non-elites) of the Roman Empire. The platform she coordinates, Romans1by1, won the DH Award 2019 for the best DH dataset. As an archaeologist, she excavates at the site where the ala I Batavorum was stationed for more than 100 years in Dacia. She is the author of several scientific books and articles published by Routledge, Archaeopress, Harrassowitz, Brill. In addition to her academic work, she has been involved in the popularisation of history, writing for Ancient Warfare and the best-known Romanian history popularisation magazine, Historia (her article on the Batavians was the cover article and the issue was the best-selling of 2021).
