Martin Ferrey

Martin Ferrey was born on St. Martin’s Day, 11 November 1911 in Kingston, Surrey. He attended Trent College Public School where he joined the O.T.C. (Officers Training Corps). After graduating, Martin moved to Glasgow where he worked for a packaging material manufacturer. In 1940, he enlisted in the Scots Guards, was later commissioned in The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), and volunteered to join the Commandos. Martin wrote an account of his military experiences; titled Soldier of Misfortune, this was never published, and following his death in January 1988, the manuscript was deposited with the regimental museum of The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles).
