Linda Marie Sheffield

Linda Marie Sheffield is an aviation historian and author, with a focus on the SR-71 Blackbird, her expertise was profoundly shaped by her father, Colonel Richard “Butch” Sheffield, an SR-71  (RSO). Linda grew up at Beale Air Force Base, California home of the SR-71. When her father was transferred to North Dakota, she graduated from high school in Minot, after high school, she went to Fargo, North Dakota, and earned a degree in University Studies with a concentration in history from North Dakota State University. She was a substitute teacher for Frederick, MD public schools for over 10 years while raising her three daughters. Ms. Sheffield is the co-founder and curator of the preeminent SR-71 social media platforms, collectively branded as Habubrats—a term honoring the children of SR-71 crews raised within the military community. These accounts, Born Into the Wild Blue Yonder Habubrats on Facebook, SR-71 Habubrats on Instagram, and SR-71 Habubrats on X, command a large global audience through her rigorously researched content, about the SR-71. Ms. Sheffield writes weekly for the Aviation Geek Club and has been invited to contribute to the Distinguished Flying Cross Magazine and the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum newsletter. Linda and Rodney Miller were married in 1978 they are the parents of three daughters Lisa, Susan, and Emily, and the grandparents of four grandsons, Linda and her husband live in the suburbs of Washington, DC.
