John Callow
John Callow is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Suffolk, UK, who has written widely on Early Modern history, politics, and witchcraft. He is the author of James II: King in Exile (History Press, 2017); Embracing the Darkness: A Cultural History of Witchcraft (I.B. Tauris, 2018); and The Last Witches of England, (Bloomsbury, 2021). His chapter on Thomas Fairfax as Lord of the Isle of Man appeared in England’s Fortress. News Perspectives on Thomas, 3rd Lord Fairfax (Ashgate, 2014). A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of the Samuel Pepys Club, he has appeared on Lion TV’s documentary about the Great Fire of London; the Discovery Channel’s series on the Salem Witches; and on Dan Snow’s ‘History Hit’.
