Ian van der Waag is Professor in the Defense and Security Programme at Rabdan Academy and Zayed Military University, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; a Visiting Professor in the Centre for Security, Peace and Conflict Resolution at Nelson Mandela University, Gqeberha; Emeritus Professor of Military History at Stellenbosch University; a Visiting Fellow at New York University Abu Dhabi; a regional director of the Second World War Studies Group; a regional ambassador of The Western Front Association; and a past Fellow of the Modern War Institute, US Military Academy, West Point, New York (2020).
