Dmitry Alexeevich Milyutin
D.A. Milyutin was born in Russia in 1816, he joined the Guard Artillery from school in 1833. He saw action in the Caucasus before completing this history of Tsar Paul's war, between 1849 and 1853. He became Russian Minister of War in 1861, implementing many reforms crucial to Russian success in the 1877 to 1878 war against Turkey. He died in 1912 in Crimea.
