David Snape

David Snape spent almost forty years in various post in state education which included headships in two secondary schools, a chief examiner, a school adviser and as a Local Education Officer. After retirement, he developed his interest in military history by taking two M.A. degrees at Wolverhampton University and in 2017 was awarded the prize as best performing post graduate student in History, Politics and War Studies for a study of the Indian Army in the First World War. He is a regular contributor to a number of military publications including Soldiers of the Queen, the journal of the Victorian Military History Society which awarded him the Howard Browne Medal in 2019 for an Assessment of Kitchener’s reforms of the Indian Army. In 2023 David Snape was awarded a Fellowship by the Royal Historical Society.
