David Gunn
Having escaped unscathed from Hitler's Blitz of Plymouth in which some 1200 people died at the age of six, David Gunn lived the life of a country boy and joined the Royal Navy at 13. He served as a seaman officer, piloted fighters on and off aircraft carriers then became a television presenter. 'I can't think of a more unplanned life', he once said. 'But there've been a lot of laughs!'
