Chris Fagg
Chris was born in the UK, grew up in New Zealand and moved to Australia where he joined the Victoria Police Force in 1968. In 1969 he became a member of the NorthernTerritory Police Force, reaching the rank of Sergeant 2/c. He retired from the Force in 1978 and moved to Tasmania where he became a member of the Department of Police and Emergency Management, serving concurrently with the local fire brigade for 22 years and the State Emergency Service for 21 years and is still serving as an emergency manager for the local council.
He has tertiary qualification in emergency management and historical research. He is interested in Australian medals, specialising in police medal recipients and the incidents for which the medals were awarded. He joined OMSA in 1978 and OMRS in 1983.
Chris was awarded the medal of the Order of Australia in 2001 for community service in emergency management. In 2010 he was awarded a Director’s Commendation for commendable service to the Tasmanian State Emergency Service and in 2017 was awarded the Emergency Services Medal for distinguished service in Emergency Management.
