Charles Singleton

Charles Singleton has researched the armies and wars of the Renaissance for over thirty years. He has a background in curatorial and collections management within the museum sector. He is the editor of the 2012 edition of the ‘Oxford Companion to Military History’ and the author of ‘Uncharitable Mischief: barbarity and excess in the British Civil Wars’, ‘Famous by my Sword. The Army of Montrose and the Military Revolution’ and ‘To kill a King’. He is currently working on a collection of essays concerning the Oxford Army of Charles I in the War of the Three Kingdoms. In his spare time, Charles enjoys wargaming, listening to an eclectic range of music, supporting the work of a dog charity and enjoying the countryside and wildlife. Originally from Lancashire, Charles lives between Wolverhampton and Bridgnorth on the Shropshire Staffordshire border.
