MiGs in the Middle East – Complete Bundle (Volume 1 & Volume 2)
This two-volume set provides a detailed operational history of Soviet-designed combat aircraft in frontline Arab air forces during the critical years leading up to the major Arab–Israeli wars. Following the mid-1950s Czechoslovak Arms Deal, Egypt, Syria and Iraq rapidly built powerful air arms equipped with MiG fighters and Il-28 bombers—aircraft that transformed the balance of air power in the region.
Volume 1 covers the introduction and early combat service of the MiG-15, MiG-17, MiG-19 and Il-28 in Egypt, Syria and Iraq from 1955 to 1963, including coups, crises and early clashes with Israel.
Volume 2 continues from 1963 to 1967, examining the rapid build-up of Soviet air power in Egypt and Syria, the expansion of MiG-19 and MiG-21 forces, and the near-continuous operational tempo across the region, including Yemen and escalating incidents with Israel.
Based on official documentation and extensive veteran interviews, and richly illustrated with rare photographs, colour profiles and maps, this bundle is an essential reference on Arab MiG operations and markings in the 1950s and 1960s.
