Volume Two looks at how the Confrontation between Malaysia and Indonesia drew in additional military forces at a time when British withdrawal from South East Asia was being actively being sought, and would result in British regular troops in upto company strength being deployed to cross the Indonesian border in top secret CLARET operations.
This book also examines the communist cells within Borneo and how they worked with Indonesian forces to conduct cross border incursions and conducted attacks within Borneo and against the Malaysian Peninsula. In addition, Singapore’s decision to leave the Federation of Malaysia is detailed, along with Sukarno’s fall from power in Indonesia, the rise of Suharto, and the mass killings that led to the fall of the PKI along with anybody who was associated with the party.
Borneo Confrontation Volume 2: Confrontation and its Aftermath is extensively illustrated with original photographs and includes specially commissioned colour artworks and maps.
