This is the final volume in a six-volume series on Air-to-Air Missiles, detailing the 80-year history of AAMs as weapons on combat aircraft. It covers the development, fielding, and combat record of fifth- and emerging sixth-generation AAMs in the post-Cold War period, as well as air-launched anti-missile and anti-satellite missiles. Each new missile type and model of the period is described in detail, including development, advantages and disadvantages, production, fielding, and service experience.
A table of characteristics, technical diagrams, and photographs of the weapons and their installation on fighter aircraft are provided. Each missile is also illustrated with a profile line drawing. The volume is extensively illustrated with period photographs, diagrams, figures and charts, and includes the @War series’ signature colour artworks. All this lends appreciation for the evolution of AAM, both technologically and through combat experience, as evidenced by these late-generation missiles.
