Accidental Ukrainians Part Two: Missile Mania is the ongoing account of two US citizens who were on the ground in Kyiv and Chernivtsi from February 2023 through February 2024. It details the ongoing missile attacks, some of their volunteer efforts to assist the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF), and personal details about their lives.
Accidental Ukrainians Part Two: Missile Mania enables you to experience firsthand the escalation of missile and drone attacks on Kyiv. The book includes insight into the counteroffensive, finding employment in a war zone, and coordinating a military aid convoy from the United Kingdom. It also provides descriptions of Ukraine, its traditions, and its lifestyles. This is the second of a four-part series.
“While this may be a book about daily life during a war, more than anything, it is a book about rediscovering life and human connections—because of war. As author John Sennett says, ‘War makes you want to live even more.’ Together with his spouse, he’d come to Ukraine to explore generational roots, only to get caught up in wartime. By then, the couple’s souls had been enraptured with the Ukraine spirit and culture. Add courage to the formula, following the invasion, and John and Natasha could not resist the pull to stay. I’ve often wondered how residents of WWII-London could cope amid the bombing blitz. The Sennetts put it all in perspective. You savor the day, learn to exist beyond the hate, you reach out for human connections, and then hope for the best. It’s a beautiful book to be remembered.” Anne Kazel-Wilcox, author “West Point ’41: The Class That Went To War and Shaped America”
