This bundle brings together both volumes of Operation Allied Force, offering a detailed examination of NATO’s 78-day air campaign against Serbia in 1999 – the last war fought in Europe during the 20th century.

Launched on 24 March 1999, NATO’s campaign aimed to force Serbian forces to withdraw from Kosovo. The conflict was fought across multiple fronts, from diplomatic negotiations and media battles to cyber warfare and an intensive aerial campaign. Despite not losing a single soldier in direct combat, NATO succeeded in forcing a Serbian withdrawal, though the air war remained dangerous throughout the conflict.

Drawing on cooperation between the Serbian Air Force and U.S. Air Forces in Europe (USAFE), these volumes provide rare insights from both sides of the conflict.

Volume 1 focuses on NATO’s air campaign and Serbian air defence efforts. It includes detailed reconstructions of missions flown by aircraft such as the F-117A and B-2A, as well as the only combat loss of an F-117 stealth fighter. The book also examines the efforts of the Serbian Air Force’s MiG-29 squadron and its surface-to-air missile units to challenge NATO strike packages.

Volume 2 provides deeper analysis of the campaign, including command structures, operational planning and the tactics used by both sides. It explores key developments such as the use of B-2 stealth bombers, new SEAD tactics and modern precision weapons including JDAM and JSOW, while also examining how Serbian air defences adapted through mobility and improvisation.

Fully illustrated in colour with photographs, diagrams and commissioned artworks, this two-volume set offers one of the most comprehensive accounts of Operation Allied Force and the air war over Serbia.
