Garry David Wills

Born in Kingston upon Thames, Garry has been interested in the Napoleonic Wars, since he started wargaming the period in 1971. In 2011, Garry self-published his first book, Wellington’s First Battle, about the battle of Boxtel in 1794. Garry also contributed a series of articles to the Smoothbore Ordnance Journal relating to British artillery in Flanders 1793–5. In 2020, Helion published Garry’s latest book, ‘Wellington at Bay, the Battle of Villamuriel, 25 October 1812’.  Subsequently, he provided an acclaimed chapter in Helion’s ‘Glory is Fleeting’ entitled ‘Maucune’s Division at Salamanca’. Most recently Garry presented a paper on the mapping of the battle of Lincelles to the Centenary conference of the SAHR.
