Details
As a consequence of the establishment of the Dual Monarchy in 1867 the Austrian Armed Forces were split into three major sections the Army the Royal Hungarian Landwehr and the Austrian Landwehr. Known as the Honved this force developed into an extensive and complex organisation such but that by the outbreak of war in 1914 it was a miniature army with all arms of service. With the motto 'For King and Fatherland' it looked back on traditional Hungarian military values from the Napoleonic Wars 1848 and the hussars of the 17th and 18th centuries. Apart from examining its historical and political development this book contains a huge amount of information regarding its organisation uniforms and equipment from establishment in 1867 until the end of the First World War. The book presents countless previously unpublished images as well as colour photos showing items from the collection of the Budapest Military Museum and private collections. Stunning!
